Abigail Lapell’s Lullabies is a haunting collection of traditional songs from around the world, performed on classical guitar and vocals. Recorded by Michael Timmins (of Cowboy Junkies), the project includes songs in English, French, Hebrew, Spanish, Yiddish, German, Japanese and Welsh. Alternately sweet and foreboding, this body of work illuminates some of the darker themes beneath the surface of many beloved folk tunes. At the same time, with familiar and comforting imagery – the night sky, a parent’s warm embrace – these songs offer safe passage between waking and dreaming, across the border between the earthly and the numinous. 

Abigail Lapell is an indie-folk songwriter from Toronto. She’s released three albums since 2017, garnering three Canadian Folk Music Awards and over 30 million+ Spotify streams. Lapell tours widely across Canada and the U.S., performing on vocals, harmonica, piano and finger-style guitar. Lullabies is out November 17th, 2023 on Outside Music.
